Ashley Judd Dating The Rock Sep 4, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Though Ashley Judd has found critical acclaim in two recent little-seen indies, it seems those microbudget movies aren't the ones that pay the bills. The Bug and Come Early Morning star-- yes, and all those awful Morgan Freeman movies-- will take what's bound to be a thankless role as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's girlfriend in The Tooth Fairy, an upcoming family comedy from Fox. Variety says Judd's role will be as a single mother with two kids, so I imagine we're bound to see the Rock's transformation from a tough and boorish hockey player to a real family man. I mean, it's a formula that's worked for pretty much all of Johnson's family comedies, so why switch things up now? Judd's fans often bemoan the fact that she hasn't snagged better roles in Hollywood, despite a family in show business and any number of what could have been big breaks. Sadly, this one doesn't seem to be the role to get things started again, but maybe at least the paycheck will give her breathing room to turn in the kind of performances people really look forward to.
Zack and Miri Green Band Movie Trailer Sep 4, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other The argument for the need of red band trailers can be proven by watching the official green band trailer for Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno. It’s not bad, but compared to the Red Band trailer released earlier this week, it feels like the fake Jan Brady. I’ve seen the movie and it’s probably Smith’s filthiest film yet. The red band is, by far, a more accurate representation. It’s fun to see the differences between the two cuts. Enjoy!
Appaloosa Movie Posters Sep 4, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Four stark profile posters for Ed Harris’s revival Western, Appaloosa, have popped up at IMP Awards. The film reunites Harris with his A History of Violence co-star Viggo Mortensen for a tale of “two friends hired to police a small town that is suffering under the rule of a rancher find their job complicated by the arrival of a young widow.” The widow is played by Renee Zellweger, and the antagonist by Jeremy Irons, who seems like a inspired choice for this type of genre and setting. Harris’s previous film, the 2001 biopic Pollock, garnered two Oscar noms including Best Actor for his performance. Opening this October, early buzz for Appaloosa from the TIFF is mixed, with disappointed comparisons to recent feted Westerns like The Proposition and 3:10 to Yuma. We’ve included the other two posters after the jump, as well as the original one-sheet released earlier this year. And for Western buffs, the film is an adaptation of Robert Parker’s novel, not a remake of Marlon Brando’s The Appaloosa (1966). Factoid: the title refers to a breed of horse.

Del Toro Booked Until 2017 Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Writer/Director Guillermo del Toro's dance card is full until 2017 by Universal Pictures. After signing a three year first-look deal with the studio back in 2007, this week it was announced that he would be tied up until 2017 directing various projects for them. Immediately following his turn as HOBBIT helmer set to conclude in 2012, del Toro will jump into Uni full time for 5 years with the following projects on his list (source EMPIRE ONLINE) -- * Frankenstein, which we’ve known for a while that the Mexican director has been circling. Universal see this as one of their franchise big guns, following the revival of The Wolfman (which Del Toro came this close to directing) Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde, based on the Robert Louis Stevenson novel. This is prime, prime Guillermo territory. * Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, the time-spanning WWII-meets-sci-fi novel (which is, of course, the barest capsule description of that novel that you could ever wish to see). * Dan Simmons’ forthcoming novel, Drood, which blends fact and fiction in telling the dark tale of the last days of Charles Dickens. We haven’t read it yet as it’s not published until February, but Simmons is a wonderful writer and, judging from the plot description, this could well be a Victorian take on The Dark Half. Possibly. So, there you go. And that’s not even counting the movies that Del Toro is down to produce for Universal, including Hater and Crimson Peak. And then, still to be placed somewhere in his schedule, is his pet project, the movie he’s been longing to make since he was a wee bairn: H.P. Lovecraft’s At The Mountains Of Madness. Head over to EMPIRE ONLINE for a further breakdown or to VARIETY for the original announcement with some words from the master himself, Guillermo del Toro.
X-Files's Chris Carter Hospitalized Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other X-Files helmer Chris Carter was hospitalized Tuesday due to exhaustion and an acute sleeping disorder. EW posted on their Hollywood Insider Blog that a source close to the director, "says the hospitalization stems from Carter 'working on multiple films back to back over a two year period' -- the recently released X-Files sequel and Fencewalker, a covert project he is rumored to have begun shooting earlier this year." Carter is expected to recover rather quickly.
New Poster from RACHEL GETTING MARRIED Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Sony Pictures Classics has sent over the final one-sheet for RACHEL GETTING MARRIED starrring Anne Hathaway. When KYM (Anne Hathaway) returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister RACHEL (Rosemarie Dewitt), she brings a long history of personal crisis and family conflict along with her. The wedding party’s abundant cast of friends and relations have gathered for an idyllic weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym – with her black-comic one-liners and knack for bombshell drama—is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic. Filled with the rich and eclectic characters that have always been a hallmark of Jonathan Demme’s films, RACHEL GETTING MARRIED paints a strikingly perceptive family portrait. Director Demme, first-time writer Jenny Lumet, and the stellar acting ensemble leaven the drama of these difficult but compelling people with wry affection and generosity of spirit. RACHEL GETTING MARRIED opens October 3.

Inside The ‘Buckaroo Banzai’ Sequel That Was To Be, And Which Still May Happen Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Remember how at the end of “The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension,” there was a cruel teaser for a sequel titled “Buckaroo Bonzai Against the World Crime League?” Or perhaps you don’t…because that promise was made, oh, 24 years ago. Well, MTV News chatted with that movie’s co-creator/writer Earl Mac Rauch — currently working on a slew of new Buckaroo comic books — to find out if cinema’s only neuroscientist, rock star, race-car driver, physicist, adventurist (in yo’ face, Indiana Jones!) will ever bring his brand of intergalactic, space-time continuum antics to the big screen again. And the answer? Just maybe. “We had so many ideas,” says Rauch. The scribe also remembers a “Buckaroo” TV series almost coming to light back in ‘99, before suddenly falling apart. “The pilot was very close to happening,” he laments. “We would’ve gone to casting.” But he, too, has steadfastly hung onto the hope of another “Buckaroo” feature film and he even has a rough plot for it. “The World Crime League is a pretty deep subject in itself. It’s basically a dark mirror of the Bonzai Institute [a.k.a. the good guys' organization],” he says. “The dueling think tanks also kill each other, not for government but for shadowy organizations. They’re constantly engaged in everyday adventures.” So far there’s no Hollywood interest, but Rauch is keeping those ideas on standby. In this climate where comics are frequently arbitrating cinematic taste, he’s happy to first gage fans’ renewed interest in the franchise through the Buckaroo comics. “You can never say never. I’ll keep doing this for a few years and just see if people really want to read these things,” he says. “And I’ll hopefully get a few novels out to maybe strike a chord.” If these titles do resonate with readers—or more pointedly, producers—the author would like to submit one idea for the lead role originally played by Peter Weller (Robocop). “At one point, I thought Benjamin Bratt had the look,” he says before demuring, “but it wouldn’t be up to be in any case, it’d be up to some studio guy. Let’s just say it’d be a nice problem to have if they were going to cast the movie.”

‘G.I. Joe’ Movie Will Reveal ‘Twisted’ Cobra Commander; Mask And Menacing Voice Included Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other We know Joseph Gordon-Levitt is excited for his role as Cobra Commander in “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra,” but just what exactly can we expect from his take on the iconic character? While viewers of the cartoon know the figure as a more whimsical evildoer, fans of the comic — used to a bombastic terrorist who entombed his own son — are feverishly hoping their version of the Cobra leader is the one that makes it on-screen. Thankfully, it sounds like they’ll get their wish. “As we see it, he’s a very twisted character,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura exclaimed to MTV News, telling us the key to Cobra Commander lies in his gritty past…and that we’ll see every grimy piece of it. “As the backstory evolves, you discover why his personality [is like that].” While stopping short of drawing parallels between Gordon-Levitt’s PG-13 villain and that of Heath Ledger’s terrifying Joker, di Bonaventura does find one noteworthy comparison. “I thought what was great in ‘The Dark Knight’ was that Heath kept telling you different stories [about his past] so you never knew what it was, and they were all spooky and crazy. [In our film] you get to see it, and you get to understand what’s happened to this guy.” While the film will draw from the comics for inspiration, di Bonaventura revealed that there’s one aspect from the cartoon that will carry over…the character’s unique voice. While it won’t exactly match the classic high-pitched wail from the show, the producer says Gordon-Levitt will leave his own vocal stamp on Cobra Commander. “He has an interesting voice. He definitely has a take-off on that. I actually found the voice a little weak in the show…I’m sure I’ll get killed for saying that. I don’t know, it always seemed kind of silly. Hopefully we’re going to be a little more menacing.” And while the character is widely known for his blue mask, don’t expect that to necessarily carry over in whole either. “We’ll see Cobra Commander in the Cobra mask [but] it will not be like the show,” said di Bonaventura, who also promised they aren’t going to the comics for that one either. “I found some of the [mask] aspects a little KKK for me,” he said, “so we tried to steer away from that image. We thought that might be a little much.”
Ray Park To Join With Ray Harryhausen For Sword-Wielding ‘Necronauts’ Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other What do you do when you’re the fearsome, face-painted henchman to a Sith master, and despite displaying a staggering acumen in the kick-assery arts, you get fatally bisected by a freakin’ light saber? If you’re Ray Park (aka “Star Wars: Episode I” baddie Darth Maul) you continue to get your testosterone on with a small chain of modest roles. Among them: the tongue-tastic Toad in “X-Men,” a no-good Fed in “Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever,” and more prominently, Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and possibly the kung-fu dynamo Iron Fist if/whenever Marvel gets around to making that one. And now you can add another role to that budding roster, one that will take him into the sword-and-sandles fantasy land of legendary special-effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen. This courtesy of cult writer/director Kevin Van Hook, who previously helmed Park in the TV movie “Slayer.” “[Park's next one] is a project I’m trying to get off the ground, which is written, that I’m doing in conjunction with Ray Harryhausen,” says Van Hook. “It’s called The Necronauts.” If the title sounds vaguely familiar, it should: It’s a pun on 1963’s “Jason and the Argonauts,” a film marked by Harryhausen’s pioneering stop-motion throwdown between the titular hero and a gang of skeletons. Park “has agreed to play the sword-wielding sidekick” in this second, more muscular installment of the Jason saga. Here, our hero goes to Hades, recruits a crew of dead folks, and proceeds to unleash all kids of guerilla-style sacrilege on Aries, the god of war. “So it’s a fun piece,” notes Van Hook. As for the lead? The director & Co. are in discussions with hunky manbot Casper Van Dien (”Starship Troopers”) to play either Jason or, says Van Hook, “a recurring smaller character. There’s [also] talk of making this being a TV series.”

Nick Jonas Enters Studio Sanctuary Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Nick Jonas and his bodyguard Big Rob leave the Jonas home and head to a studio in Burbank, Calif. on Wednesday. In order to mix things up a bit, the 15-year-old rocker is contemplating about writing songs under an alias! “Maybe one day I’d write a song and somebody would sing it and then no one would really know that I wrote it,” he said. “It would be kind of exciting, and I had heard that Prince did that, and it was just kind of a goal for me.” For a peak of the Jonas Brothers‘ VMA performance set, check out MTV Buzzworthy! WHAT DO YOU THINK about Nick writing songs under an alias — YAY or NAY?
Rachel Bilson Talks Hayden Christensen Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Rachel Bilson speaks semi-openly about her relationship with Hayden Christensen in this week’s Page Six Magazine. (She even spoke about her “H” necklace to Glamour.) Here’s what the 27-year-old former O.C. starlet had to say: On landing in the crosshairs of the fashion police: “I think it’s cool to be on the worst-dressed list. If people aren’t accepting, that’s OK. Bring it on, I don’t care!” On her new clothing line Edie Rose (named after her late grandmother), debuting on DKNY Jeans: “[Even though I can’t sew,] I came with some pictures, a couple pieces of my own clothes and some ideas in my head. It’s simple with one pop of color, which is like me.” On crediting her style to her mother, Janice, a spiritual adviser: “Vintage is her love, she has a great eye, which I think I’ve inherited from her.” On ex-costar/ex-boyfriend Adam Brody: “They say don’t date your co-star, but that’s who you’re around. If you’re in an office, and you see someone everyday and you click well, you’ll start dating. It’s the same thing.” On rumored boyfriend Hayden Christensen: “I’m happy and that’s all that matters. I have someone really great. Someone who can make me laugh—that’s always what comes first. It’s the best to be able to really, like, truly laugh with someone like they’re your best friend, you know?” Rachel will also be serving as maid of honor at the wedding of her Josh Schwartz (creator of The O.C., Gossip Girl and Chuck) and his fiancee Jill. Check out this week’s issue of Page Six Magazine, free inside the Sunday edition of the New York Post and online on Monday at PageSixMag.com.

Justice League live action movie Sep 4, 2008 keeper00918 Other I was pleased to read that a Justice League movie is NOT dead, at the moment anyway, and is in pre-production with a projected start date for "early 2009". This news was updated on August 5, 2008. The cast is supposed to include Common as Green Lantern, Adam Brody as the Flash, Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul and others. I have wanted to see a Justice League movie for a while and can only hope that this news is still accurate and that, if the movie comes to fruation, it is as good as Iron Man, Spider Man or The Dark Knight.

Susan Sarandon Slams Rocky Horror Remake Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other SUSAN SARANDON sees no point in remaking cult classic THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW - because the original was perfect. Bosses at MTV announced earlier this year (08) their plans to remake the 1975 movie, which launched Sarandon's film career. But the star isn't convinced the original's success can be replicated. She says, "I don't quite understand what they would do to make it more charming or interesting. Certainly people could sing better than I could - that could be something that could change. "But part of the charm of it, I thought, was that it was done sort of low-budget. So unless it's done huge and very different I don't know the point of remaking it."
Protest Over Bond Trailer Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Clips from the trailer of the new JAMES BOND movie QUANTUM OF SOLACE have been criticised for allegedly glamorising gun crime. Anti-gun campaigners in the U.K. have complained about images taken from the forthcoming 007 film, which show its star, Daniel Craig, holding a large machine gun. The protestors insist the commercial should not be broadcast following a recent spate of armed crime across Britain. Lyn Costello, spokeswoman for Mothers Against Murder and Aggression, says, "Kids are killing each other - they are shooting and stabbing each other and everyone has to take responsibility for stopping this." Posters advertising Angelina Jolie's latest film Wanted - which feature the beauty grasping a gun - were banned in Britain earlier this week (beg01Sep08) for allegedly promoting violence.
Ashley Judd, Tooth Fairy's Girlfriend Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other In what is shaping up to be either a colossal train wreck or an inspired piece of lunacy, Southern belle Ashley Judd has joined the cast of the upcoming comedy Tooth Fairy as the titular character's girlfriend. Before (some of) you get your hopes up that a major studio production will feature a lesbian relationship, read on to learn how the superb dramatic actress figures into the story. Dwayne Johnson was signed by 20th Century Fox for Tooth Fairy back in February, as Monika reported. He was to play "an ordinary man who's brought in to try to save the tooth fairy kingdom," though I prefer the unofficial synopsis that has found its way onto IMDb: "Tess is a 6-years-old girl who is very dissapointed when Derek (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) tells her that the tooth fairy isn't real." (Misspellings not mine.) Talk about high concept! Variety now clarifies that Johnson will be playing a minor league hockey player nicknamed The Tooth Fairy, no doubt because he has a habit of knocking out opponents' teeth with his rough play. Judd will be playing his girlfriend, a single mother of two children, no doubt a romantic relationship that will help tame the Tooth Fairy's violent ways, especially when one of Ashley's children loses a tooth (just guessing here). You can probably write the rest of the story as predictably as two of the credited writers. Production starts in October under the direction of sitcom vet Michael Lembeck.
Exclusive Clip: 'JCVD' Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Cinematical is very excited to bring you this exclusive clip from the new flick JCVD, which, surprisingly, has watched a tremendous amount of buzz build around it since it first screened at this past Cannes Film Festival. Now, as part of the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival midnight slate (it premieres tonight!), JCVD will receive a more proper introduction (or should I say, re-introduction) to the world. JCVD, of course, stands for our good friend Jean-Claude Van Damme, star of such action flicks as Kickboxer, Timecop, Universal Solider (first bootleg I ever watched), Double Impact, Death Warrant ... shall I go on? From what I understand, JCVD follows Van Damme (who stars as himself) as he travels back to his home country in an attempt to find peace and tranquility after whatever was left of his career seemed to vanish. We'll have a review coming up very soon, but in the meantime check out this very funny clip below as it should give you an idea of the vibe this flick is going for. Dare I say this might be one of my most anticipated films of the fall season? JCVD will also play Fantastic Fest before arriving in theaters (in limited release) on November 7.
McConaughey Keeps His Shirt on for 'Surfer, Dude' Premiere in Austin Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other Where else would you expect to see the world premiere of a comedy in which Matthew McConaughey is shirtless for the entire film? It had to be Austin. Instead of the traditional red carpet, the stars of Surfer, Dude strolled down a green carpet in 90-plus-degree weather last night, as part of a benefit screening for Austin Film Society. McConaughey (who kept his shirt on the entire time, sadly) was joined by a half-dozen of his co-stars, including Woody Harrelson, as well as director/co-writer S.R. Bindler. Bindler's previous film, the documentary Hands on a Hardbody, played at the Dobie in Austin for more than a year back in the late 1990s. Even McConaughey's parents were on the green carpet, although I don't think they appear in the R-rated comedy. The only disappointment was that Willie Nelson, who also has a role in Surfer, Dude, wasn't around. After the jump, I've included a photo of Surfer, Dude actresses Alexie Gilmore and K.D. Aubert from last night's premiere. Out and About, the Austin American-Statesman's social/entertainment blog, has posted more photos from the green-carpet event as well as a short and light-hearted review. Surfer, Dude is opening on Friday in limited release -- including Austin -- and then will hit more cities on September 12. The film's distributor is Anchor Bay, primarily a DVD distribution company, but in the past year or so the company's started giving its movies a small theatrical release before the DVD rollout.
Exclusive Clip: 'Picasso & Braque Go To The Movies' Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other The 2008 Toronto International Film Festival is officially underway, and as always Cinematical is your one-stop-shop for all things TIFF. Our reviews, galleries, interviews and scene coverage will begin to populate the main page soon, but in the meantime we've been sharing some great exclusive clips, images and posters from some of the more talked-about flicks screening in Toronto this year. Below, feast your eyes on a clip from Picasso & Braque Go To The Movies, produced and narrated by none other than Martin Scorsese. The film, from art dealer-producer-director Arne Glimcher (The Mambo Kings) delves deep into the relationship between film and the visual arts, and it features folks like Scorsese, Chuck Close and Julian Schnabel. For more on Picasso and Braque, see the film's official summary over on the TIFF website.
The Office’s Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg Writing Ghostbusters 3? “Next-Gen” Rumors Continue…121 Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other The general impression based on years of tentative Ghostbusters 3 rumors is that of a feisty tug-o-war between the original players. Yesterday, Dan Aykroyd parlayed that “two sharp young writers” were working on the script, and expressed hope that Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow would be involved. Today, Pajiba has possibly identified the writers as Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg of The Office (”Job Fair”, “Goodbye Toby”) and this goes along with what Slashfilm has been hearing from a few sources. Interestingly enough, the site claims that their original script outline was done under-the-radar of director/star Harold Ramis, yet beloved by Columbia Pictures, even though Stupnitsky and Eisenberg scribed Ramis and Judd Apatow’s 2009 Biblical comedy Year One. So, now the three of them are rumored to be working on a new treatment that’s not sitting well with the studio. Slashfilm cannot confirm this, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Moreover, it’s said that the original script outline was a “next generation” sequel. Rumors were shot down back in July involving Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell and Romany Malco. Perhaps we should think younger? One thing is for sure: With next year’s video game already earning lots of ink, Ghostbusters 3 is being dusted off and proposed as a torch of sorts. When and if confirmed, I think Stupnitsky and Eisenberg’s involvement will be seen is a plus. These are guys who probably love the original film(s) but also appropriately update the material and tone. And let’s hope Rick Moranis’s Louis Tully returns.
TIFF Movie Review: Ghost Town Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other In about 6 seconds, I will loose a lot of geek cred… 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… I’m not a fan of Ricky Gervais. There, I said it. Also, I have yet to get into either the British or American versions of The Office. ::gasp:: I know, a travesty. That said, I caught David Koepp’s Ghost Town at the Toronto Film Festival, and I didn’t hate it. I also didn’t love it either. It’s your paint-by-numbers romantic comedy, with a little dry humor thrown in for good measure. In Ghost Town, Gervais plays a loner dentist who dies for seven minutes during a routine operation, and is now able to see ghosts. Living in New York City, you can imagine there are a lot of ghosts. The ghosts need Gervais to help them fix the various unfinished business before they are allowed to enter the after life. And once all of the ghosts realize that someone can see them, they won’t leave Gervais alone. So for Ricky, it is a nightmare instead of a gift. Ricky just wants to be left alone. Greg Kinnear plays Frank, a cheating husband who narrowly escapes being crushed by a falling air conditioner only to be hit by a bus a second later (movie cliche #1). Frank offers to get rid of all the ghosts if Ricky can fix his problem, which is to scare off his ex-wife’s (played by Téa Leoni) “money grubbing” human rights lawyer fiancée. And of course, when a connection develops between Ricky and Gwen, the film goes into full-on romantic comedy mode. Ghost Town is a movie that you’ve already seen. It’s a romantic comedy version of Ghost, with Just Like Heaven and Roxanne thrown in for good measure. It’s not bad, but the whole thing feels below Gervais. It’s like the guy from the British Office got trapped in a generic American romantic comedy. The main gag involves Gervais being caught by others talking to “thin air” and having to talk his way out of it. You can imagine that this gets old pretty fast. Kristen Wiig is wonderful as the quirky spray-on tanning surgeon who is responsible, but not legally liable for Ricky’s short lived death. /Film Rating: 6.5 out of 10
Toronto Video Blog: Ghost Town and Rocknrolla Sep 4, 2008 Petes1234567 Other It’s day seven of my 28 day movie adventure. The Toronto International Film Festival has begun. And anyone who doesn’t think Canada can be hot obviously hasn’t visited Toronto in September. I arrived at 2:00am due to an unforeseen delay in my flight, and was unable to catch the morning press screening of Guy Ritchie’s latest Rocknrolla. Luckily I was able to catch up with Liam Cullin of EmpireMovies.com after the screening of Ghost Town. We talk about the Ricky Gervais comedy and Liam gives his thoughts on Guy Ritchie’s latest (you can read his written review here). Hopefully this will be the first of many video blogs where we take a few minutes out with other critics at the festival and discuss what we’ve just seen.
Tony Romo Jessica Simpson Moving In Together Irving, Texas Sep 4, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are moving in together. The Cowboys QB and ditzy GF have decided to shack up as a preliminary step before walking down the aisle. “Jess and Tony have been together since last Thanksgiving and they’re ready to take their relationship to the next level…Both of them agreed it was practical to move in together before a wedding so they can work out the kinks.” The lovebirds new abode comes in the form of a $670,000 six-bedroom, six bathroom home in Valley Ranch section of Irving, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. A National Enquirer insider says, “Jessica still has her home in Beverly Hills, but she plans to oversee the redecorating of Tony’s house, and then settle into the role of homemaker when her concert tour ends in October.” “What she’s planning to do with the place is awesome” a Life & Style tattle chimes in. “It’s a little outdated, so the renovations are probably going to end up costing more than the house itself. And Tony totally trusts her.” “She’s already talking about repainting walls.” Tony and Jess are also making room for a few little Romos. “….Tony’s agreed to let her turn one of the spare bedrooms into a nursery,” the Enquirer spy add. “Jess plans spending the rest of her life with Tony. They’re laying the foundation for a life together as husband and wife…and parents.”
The Office’s Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg Writing Ghostbusters 3? “Next-Gen” Rumors Continue… Sep 4, 2008 SexiVixxEN Other The general impression based on years of tentative Ghostbusters 3 rumors is that of a feisty tug-o-war between the original players. Discuss: What do you make of the growing rumors? Would these writers be a good fit? Would you like to see a rumored next-gen sequel and if so, who should join the famed ranks?
No Edge of Darkness for De Niro Sep 4, 2008 CaptAmerica79 Other Robert De Niro has exited Edge of Darkness, the Martin Campbell-directed drama that Graham King's GK Films began shooting in Massachusetts on Aug. 18. De Niro just arrived on the set this week. "Sometimes things don't work out, it's called creative differences," a spokesman for the actor told Variety. De Niro had signed to play an operative sent to clean up the evidence in the murder of a young woman. Mel Gibson stars as the victim's father, a homicide detective for the Boston Police Dept. who uncovers her secret life, a corporate cover-up and government collusion. Danny Huston, Shawn Roberts and Bojana Novakovic also star. The filmmakers plan to shoot around De Niro's character's scenes until they cast an actor to replace him.

Reportedly, unwed mom Jamie Lynne, 17, who gave birth in June, arranged to have a gist sent from Beverly Hills hot tot spot, Petit Trésor, to the 17 year old first daughter of Juneau. Jamie Lynn is still-engaged to hometown good ol' boy Casey Aldridge much like Bristol is soon due to wed her baby daddy high school hockey hellion Levi Johnston. "She wanted it in pink. I'm assuming the two have spoken, and she knows it's a girl," a spokesman for Petit Trésor, confided to The New York Daily News. The gift revealed that Jamie Lynn's mom, Lynne is the one who placed the order using a Spears family credit card. The package of $60 five coordinated burp cloths embroidered with skull and cross bones images as well as "Love", "Yummy", "Babe" and "Loved" accompanied by a card from the Zoey 101 star reading: "Dear Bristol: Hang in there!!!!! Who Didn't Think Harvey Dent was Dead? Sep 4, 2008 stopitgoaway Other Yes, this story has spoilers, but based on the fact that The Dark Knight has made $505,954,123 I am assuming anyone interested has already seen it. Yesterday Ain't It Cool News and CHUD reported what they considered news saying Harvey Dent is officially dead at the end of The Dark Knight. Seriously? How is this news or even something people didn't think was the case? The snippet you see beneath is a screencapture from the Dark Knight script. I have made it a point to draw your eye to one word specifically. Gordon and Batman even talk about all the people that are dead at the end of the film. They hold a memorial for Dent at the end of the film. The whole reason for Batman becoming a villain at the end of the film is because Dent is dead. What am I missing? Is there a story here?
Bettany and Connelly to Star in Creation Sep 4, 2008 CaptAmerica79 Other Real-life husband and wife Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly have signed on to play a married couple in Creation, Jon Amiel's project about the life of Charles Darwin, says The Hollywood Reporter. Bettany will play the British father of evolutionary theory, and Connelly will play his wife, Emma, in the big-screen take on the life of the controversial "On the Origin of Species" author. Amiel's film portrays Darwin as a man torn between his love for his deeply religious wife and his own growing belief in a world where God has no place. The scientist finds himself caught in a struggle between faith and reason, love and truth. Collee's script is based on Randal Keynes' book "Annie's Box," about the life of Darwin, his great great grandfather. Also joining the cast are Jeremy Northam, Toby Jones and Benedict Cumberbatch. The key role of daughter Annie will be announced soon. Shooting starts at the end of September on location in England.

Gerard Butler Skeptical of 300 Prequel Sep 4, 2008 CaptAmerica79 Other At the Toronto press conference for the upcoming Guy Ritchie crime flick RocknRolla, Superhero Hype! asked Gerard Butler if he'd heard anything more about the recent rumors of a prequel or sequel to his blockbuster action movie 300 that have come to light in recent interviews with director Zack Snyder and the producers. Unfortunately, Butler hasn't heard anything more then we have, and he seemed rather dubious of the film's franchise potential. "I've heard some backroom chatter, but nothing more, so I don't know if it would be a sequel or a prequel. I don't want say anymore than that, because I really don't know. I haven't read anything. I can't see it myself--sequel for me absolutely not, but I just mean the idea generally, I'm really not sure which way they would go with that."
Which movie series are worth revisiting ... and which should remain in the can? Sep 4, 2008 Collegekid Other It sounds like a line from a horror movie ad: Nothing stays dead forever. But in the movie business , that's literally true. There has rarely been a good idea in Hollywood that has not been unearthed, revisited, resurrected, reimagined or rebooted, either as a continuing series of films or, particularly in recent times, as a remake -- as long as it makes money, of course. Since the turn of the 21st century alone we've had three "Spider-Man" flicks, a "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, a horde of "X-Men" and a trio of "Ocean's," and, recently, Indiana Jones' return (with mixed results) -- and that's just scratching the surface. But we're here to talk about those franchises that have been quiet for a while, or at least have seemed to be in their last throes. With a few exceptions, each of the following film series has been inactive for at least five years -- and in many cases even longer. Yet a number of properties going back 20 years or more have all been mooted for revival in recent times -- as clear an indication as any that today's studio execs are either pining for their childhood favorites or are simply out of original ideas. We happen to think that some of these concepts could benefit from a new approach or an updated story line, and we'd love to see a few of these characters (RoboCop, for instance) back on the big screen. But not every iconic film series can simply succeed with a fresh coat of paint or a hefty dose of CG. The "Die Hard" and "Alien" product lines are just two glaring examples -- although we admit we wouldn't mind ditching the woeful "Alien vs. Predator" installments in favor of a rematch with Sigourney Weaver's Ripley. So here is a list of some film franchises we think could work again, and a few we'd like to see stay dead. For those we approve of, we've included our own humble proposals for a plot. No need to thank us -- just get the movie right. The Terminator Last film: "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" (2003) Status: "The Terminator" was one of the great geek movies of the '80s, a low-budget sci-fi flick that delivered action, suspense, violence, a great story and Arnold Schwarzenegger in his defining role. "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) expanded the tale into an epic, with groundbreaking visuals and an elegant completion of the time-travel saga. They should have left it there -- "Terminator 3" was far from the disaster that many feared, but it made nonsense out of the first two entries' logic. Based on early script reports, next year's "Terminator Salvation" stretches the story well past its breaking point, changing the timeline entirely. And Arnold isn't even in it! This franchise has said "I'll be back" at least once too often. Mad Max Last film: "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" (1985) Status: "Thunderdome," the third entry in the series about a rogue cop wandering a postapocalyptic wilderness, was initially perceived as a disappointment after the brilliance of the second film, "The Road Warrior." Nevertheless, a new movie, "Mad Max IV: Fury Road," has been in "pre-production" since late 2007, with creator/director George Miller once again slated to get behind the camera. But with Miller planning to film in Africa, concerns about security have slowed the start of production. There's also the little matter of finding a new Max -- Mel Gibson says he's too old for the part now. Plot: We like the idea of resurrecting Max with a big budget and a fresh approach, so why not have Gibson cameo as an aged Max, on his deathbed, dispensing wisdom and passing the torch to one of the now-grown tribal children from "Thunderdome"? The fledgling society set up by the children in the ruins of Sydney could be endangered by a new threat, and it's up to the youthful leader to "become" the legendary Max and save his new civilization. Dirty Harry Last film: "The Dead Pool" (1988) Status: Although Clint Eastwood said not long ago that he wasn't interested in returning to one of his signature characters, vigilante-like San Francisco cop "Dirty" Harry Callahan, his denial alone seemed to spark interest in reviving the franchise. Rumors abound that a newly announced Eastwood picture, "Gran Torino," is the next Dirty Harry picture, although that speculation seems to be have been dismissed by Eastwood himself. The actor has stated that he's too old to play the role again, but we think that could work in his favor. Plot: Eastwood's own films in the past 20 years or so have portrayed the all-too-grim results of violence, and, in the case of his masterful "Unforgiven," what happens when people take the law into their own hands. A new "Dirty Harry" film, showing an aged Callahan grappling with these issues, could fit nicely into that narrative. Pit Harry against, say, an urban terrorist, set him at odds with a corrupt government agency and younger cops within his own force who see him as a role model, and you've got the makings of a compelling and timely thriller. RoboCop Last film: "RoboCop 3" (1993) Status: Like so many third films in a series, "RoboCop 3" was a pale imitation of its predecessors, severely hampered by a PG-13 rating that took the teeth right out of the franchise. But the idea of continuing the saga of the cyborg law enforcer has never quite gone out of style. It was recently announced that director Darren Aronofsky ("Requiem for a Dream" and "The Fountain") will helm a reboot of the character. Aronofsky -- whose radical take on Batman a few years ago was reportedly even darker than the one eventually filmed by Christopher Nolan -- could be the perfect choice to switch RoboCop back on. Plot: The original "RoboCop" themes of corporate control of society, media manipulation, and rogue law enforcement are even more topical now than they were 20 years ago. Since today's society has quickly caught up with the original film's dystopian future, we propose something radical ourselves: Have RoboCop sent back in time to the present, and watch what happens as various factions try to gain control of this particular weapon of mass destruction. Perhaps he'll even meet his parents or himself as a young child, reactivating his humanity. I'd buy that for a dollar. Austin Powers Last film: "Austin Powers: Goldmember" (2002) Status: You know Mike Myers is looking at the box office returns of the dismal "Love Guru" and thinking, "Hmm ... time to get my hugely successful retro spy spoof on again." In fact, an "Austin Powers 4" has been reported as going into production in 2009, with Myers stating in several interviews that the film would focus more on Dr. Evil than Austin. There's only one catch: "Goldmember" was just not that funny. In fact, neither was "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery." Only "The Spy Who Shagged Me" really worked. Based on all that, and the turn Myers' ideas have taken recently, the idea of a fourth "Austin" film just doesn't make us horny, baby.
